Abstract Paintings Exploring Identity, Memory & Belonging

"Through abstract painting, I explore the shifting landscapes of memory and identity.

Working with colour, texture, and simplified forms, I create spaces where connection, absence, and quiet coexist—inviting viewers to reflect on their own sense of belonging."

Walking by gumtrees,
A$2,500.00

Mixed media on canvas in Tasmanian oak

93 × 93 cm, 2026

Inspired by walks beneath Australia's native gumtrees, Walking by Gumtrees is a quiet reflection on finding familiarity in the everyday. The vertical forms echo the rhythm of tree trunks, while layered colours capture shifting light, bark, and glimpses of sky. Bright oranges, soft blues and earthy greens balance moments of energy with stillness.

Part of my Shapes of Elsewhere series, this painting explores how a simple walk can become a place of belonging. It celebrates the subtle beauty of landscapes we return to again and again, and the memories and emotions they quietly hold.

Lost and Found in Aberdeen Street
A$3,500.00

Mixed media on canvas

93 × 123 cm, 2026

Inspired by memories of wandering through Aberdeen Street in Hong Kong, Lost and Found in Aberdeen Street reflects the emotional contradictions of travelling through a city that feels both unfamiliar and strangely familiar. Historic buildings stand alongside contemporary architecture, creating a rhythm of old and new, belonging and alienation.

Layered forms and intertwining lines echo streets, conversations and passing moments, while soft earthy tones and deep blues evoke nostalgia, curiosity and discovery. Part of my Shapes of Elsewhere series, this work explores how places leave lasting impressions, weaving together memory, identity and the invisible threads that connect us across time and distance.

In my studio…

Small reflections from the studio moments, thoughts,

and the quiet before a painting begins.

Art studio with two large abstract paintings hanging on the wall, paint supplies including numerous jars of paint on the floor and shelves, and a paint palette with mixed colors on the floor, all in a workspace with splattered paint on the floor and wall.
