Over the hill on Brees
Mixed media on canvas
65 × 65 cm, 2026
Inspired by the street I travel home every day, Over the Hill on Brees reflects the quiet ritual of driving or walking up Brees Road, where my home sits at the top of the hill. Though the journey is familiar, it never feels quite the same. Light shifts, seasons change, and so do my thoughts and emotions.
Created through layers of mixed media, colour and texture, the painting builds a dynamic visual narrative of memory, familiarity and quiet transformation. Part of my Shapes of Elsewhere series, it explores how the places we return to each day continue to shape our sense of home, belonging and self.
